O-I Supports Australia Bushfire Victims

The bushfires currently devastating Australia are proving to be the worst of their kind in decades. At least 33 people and 1.25 billion animals have died to date, while more than 11 million hectares (27.2 million acres) of bush, forest and parks burnt – just partway through the country’s bushfire season.

As stories of those left in the fires’ wake are shared around the world, people are digging deep to contribute to the enormous relief work.

O-I has joined the effort, donating $55,000 to the Red Cross bushfire relief fund. The money was raised through a combination of a $50,000 O-I donation, and through fund-raising by many of our employees across Australia, which was matched by the company.

O-I has plants in every one of the four Australian states impacted by the fires. The donation will go directly to supporting victims of the bushfires, with Red Cross being one of the charities the Australian Government has nominated to support the bush fire appeal.
