O-I Glass’s Brockway facility in Brockport, Pennsylvania, has earned the ENERGY STAR® Certification from the U.S. Environmental Protect Agency. The ENERGY STAR certification recognizes superior energy efficiency and signifies that O-I’s Brockway glass manufacturing plant performs in the top 25% of similar facilities nationwide.

Manufacturers must meet strict EPA energy efficiency performance levels to be awarded an ENERGY STAR certification. To earn the ENERGY STAR, O-I Brockway increased energy efficiency through a combination of increasing cullet use, improving lehr curves, reducing energy during peak periods, improved furnace energy stability, incorporated forehearth burners and added energy-efficient motors.

“Our team continues its drive for new and innovative ways to conserve energy associated with producing sustainable glass packaging,” said Bo Preston, Plant Manager for O-I Brockway. “Achieving our ENERGY STAR certification is not just a win for Brockway, but it is a win for all of our North American facilities as we drive for our collective sustainability.”

At O-I, we love glass. It’s the perfect material to support the circular economy. It’s made from four readily available materials – silica sand, limestone, soda ash, and recycled glass. It’s 100% recyclable and infinitely recyclable. It can be recycled time and time again, endlessly, without a loss in quality.

Our sustainability journey is about more than what we make – it’s about how we make it. Our vision is to be the most innovative, sustainable, chosen supplier of brand-building packaging solutions. The ENERGY STAR certification acknowledges investments at our Brockway facility. Our work to lead the way to sustainably produce sustainable packaging is evident worldwide; you can see it in our plants from Villotta, France, to Waco, Texas, USA to Zipaquira, Colombia. You can read more of our sustainability success stories on our website.
